Wednesday Night Cinema: Ihr dunkler Punkt
Event date: 12/18/2024
Location: Musikinstrumenten-Museum, 6 p.m.
Silent film comedy from 1928 with Lilian Harvey and Willy Fritsch, accompanied live on the Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ by Anna Vavilkina.
Baroness Lilian von Trucks finds out in an unpleasant way that she has a doppelganger: She is arrested in her luxury hotel as the jewel thief Yvette! Fortunately, the misunderstanding is quickly cleared up, as the two differ in one tiny detail: Yvette has a dark spot on her thigh. When the elegant Erik, whose jewels Yvette is after, also mistakes Lilian for the thief, she makes a decision. She sets off in search of Yvette and slips into her role in order to thwart her next coup.
For Lilian Harvey and Willy Fritsch, the crook comedy Ihr dunkler Punkt was their second joint and first Ufa production. Both began their film careers during the silent film era in the mid-1920s. They proved to be a well-rehearsed team early on and later became the dream couple of early German sound film.
