Hardly any other film from Weimar cinema has left as many traces in film history as Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS. Fritz Lang's science fiction film about the rebellion of the working class against the dominant upper class in the future city of Metropolis is one of the most important cinematic masterpieces of all time. It is also one of the most important reconstructions and restorations in film history and was the first film to be included in the UNESCO documentary heritage list in 2001.

The screening is part of the exhibition "Great CinemaThe Big Screen. Film Posters of All Times" by the Kunstbibliothek der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, which can be seen in the exhibition hall of the Kulturforum until 3 March 2024. The film is accompanied live by Anna Vavilkina on the Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ. In addition to the screening time of 149 minutes, there is a break of approx. 15 minutes. With intertitles in German.
