23.09.2007 | No downgrade: BMS online is now searchable with fuzzy search.

With this attractive search function users will not only get exact matches for their search term but also implicitly or associatively related ones. This tool not only meets but in a way eclipses the quality of analogue search tools (like printed bibliographies, card indexes or systematic shelving): Upon first search BMS online comes up with contextual fields of a term and it even makes chance discoveries possible again. The fuzzy search also leaves its trace above your listed search results: In an extra field a number of associated new search terms (more or less helpful) appear. Please note: This search is associative. It is neither fault-tolerant nor does it search for phonetically similar words. In addition, please kindly excuse that for the time being some results of our fuzzy search will be complete nonsense – we are still fine-tuning the process!

27.11.2006 | Mozilla/Firefox-Search-Plug-In for BMS online

With the browsers Mozilla Firefox and Netscape you can install a supplemental search tool for BMS online. This plug-in allows for easy search of the BMS in the search field or sidebar of your browser. JavaScript has to be active for installation and you need write access for the »searchplugins« folder under the program directory. More on the subject of search engine plug-ins can be found, for example, on    Mozdev.

16.08.2006 | Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Musikwissenschaft (Virtual Library of Musicology)

ViFaMusik, the central information portal for music and musicology, is online. The Virtuelle Fachbibliothek Musikwissenschaft is a DFG-funded joint project by the    Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek, the »Staatliches Instituts für Musikforschung« and the    Gesellschaft für Musikforschung. Even its prototype version offers comprehensive information on music and internet resources.
