Khrystyna Petrynka
Contemporary Ukrainian Bandura Art in light of the concept of Metamodernism

Khrystyna Petrynka (1999) is a musicologist from Lviv, Ukraine. She holds a Master's degree in Musicology from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Her research focusses on contemporary pop music, with a particular emphasis on the bandura. Her fascination with the traditional instrument, which is the embodiment of the cultural code of the Ukrainian people, is due to its relevance and original interpretation in contemporary culture, offering insight into the current era without compromising its strong connection to cultural heritage.

With over 14 years of professional experience playing the bandura, Khrystyna brings both scholarly understanding and practical experience to her research. For the past two years, she has been living in Berlin, where she had the opportunity to continue her research at the State Institute for Musicological Research for 9 months. Her research results, published in the Baltic Journal of Legal and Social Sciences, as well as presentations at conferences in Berlin, Lviv, Kaunas and Weimar, indicate her active participation in the scientific discourse and personal interest.

In addition to her academic work, Khrystyna is actively involved in the cultural life of Berlin. She is the conductor of the Ukrainian choir in Berlin "Malvy" and a member of the duo "Bandurcello". Her involvement in these musical groups strengthens her commitment to promoting Ukrainian cultural heritage on the international stage.
